It's what we call "stakeholder engagement"
Welcome to the DRC Video Blog! This blog was developed as a way for us to understand the concerns of our clients and stakeholders and to give each of you the opportunity to help us serve you better.
We recently launched our online store and received a tremendous response from the community. But not all of it was positive.
While everyone we spoke to thought it was a great idea to make our archive (and future DVDs) available for sale online, many of you wrote with concerns about who would have access to your choreography and dance footage.
While we have always tried to protect this choreography by restricting sales of dances to studio directors, teachers, dancers and their parents, the Internet created an opportunity for people to purchase these DVDs somewhat anonymously. That means anyone would be able to buy your dances and how could we possibly tell who was a "qualified" purchaser and who was not.
In response to your concerns we have modified our online store in two ways:
1) We have clearly stated our policy in big, bold letters at the homepage of our store.
2) We have instituted a policy where we will deliver ALL DVDs purchased directly to their respective studios. This will allow each individual studio to verify if the individual is a "qualified" purchaser. If they are - then the studio will release the DVD to them. If they are not, the studio can refuse to release the DVD.
So while we believe that we have addressed this concern fully, we recognize that there may be other concerns or suggestions that you might have for us. To this end we have started this blog. This is your place to tell us what you like about our services, what you don't like about our services, what you would like us to add to our service, etc. We will be building a forum shortly but in the meantime please post your comments with us here.
We want you to share these suggestions with us and with the rest of the community. This blog will allow you do so anonymously.
We want to hear from you - don't be shy - stand up and tell us how you really feel! We promise to listen.
